Tipping bucket rain gauges

SR03 – Paddle Rain Gauge

The SR03 is a mechanically robust dipper-type rain gauge with a precise collection area of 500 cm² designed to measure both liquid and solid precipitation. Measurements are based on the principle of a split-paddle tipping mechanism, which generates a pulse signal corresponding to the amount of precipitation (0.1 mm/pulse). This pulse output can be easily connected to data loggers or telemetry stations for further data processing.

  • Mechanical float-type measurement principle with an S-tipping float
  • Sensitivity of 0.1 mm of precipitation per pulse
  • Robust, weather-resistant construction
  • Pulsed electrical output for easy connection to data logging systems
  • Optional heated version SR03/V for winter operation

Description

The rain gauge features a robust aluminum alloy construction that ensures long-term resistance to adverse weather conditions. The body incorporates a classic tipping-bucket mechanism with a magnetic contact closure that generates a pulse output. The rain gauge is equipped with a spirit level and adjustment screws for easy leveling.

Applications

  • Rainfall monitoring
  • Meteorological measurements and climatology
  • Flood monitoring
  • Remote measurements via telemetry stations
  • Precipitation total and intensity statistics
