In addition to Parshall flumes, triangular cross-sections are often used to measure wastewater flow. These profiles can also be used to measure flow rates and discharge volumes of surface water in small streams, but they are usually combined with a rectangular or trapezoidal cross-section to achieve a wider flow measurement range after rainfall. The consumption equations for calculating instantaneous flow are already preset for standard measuring weirs in units for measuring water level and flow.
Constructing gauging weirs on outfalls from wastewater treatment plants, streams, and drainage ditches so that they do not allow water to pass outside the gauging opening requires experience as well as the necessary technical equipment.
Ensuring the structural integrity of the weir itself also places demands on its design. The selection of a suitable location for the weir in the field also plays an important role in the entire project.
FIEDLER AMS s.r.o. has been involved in the construction of small weirs for wastewater treatment plants and for surface water monitoring since its inception and is capable of supplying, installing, and equipping small weirs on its own, including the appropriate technology for measuring instantaneous flow rates, volumes of water passed through, and, if necessary, other water parameters (pH, conductivity, temperature, etc.).
