Datalogger (level meter) for wells and boreholes

H531 – Level Gauge for Wells, Sump Pits, and Tanks

The H531 level meter display unit, together with the TSH27 submersible level sensor, forms a system designed to measure liquid levels in wells, boreholes, or rainwater collection pits and retention tanks.

  • Battery operation
  • Basic sensor models with measuring ranges of 0–10 m or 0–25 m water level
  • Stainless steel sensor housing with a durable PUR cable
  • The connecting cable without a compensation capillary reduces the cost of the measuring system, especially for installations in boreholes (long cable)
  • Sensor installation by submerging it behind the PUR cable or by screwing it into a 1/2" welded-on fitting
  • Binary output for controlling a pump, solenoid valve, or audible/visual alarms
  • Quick setup and adjustment of level sensor parameters using 3 buttons and a display
  • Option for external power supply from a 12 V source
  • Graphical display of measured values on the unit’s screen for a selected time period (1 hour to 10 weeks)
  • Option to automatically transfer measured data to an online database via a GSM/GPRS network (H531-G model)
  • Data hosting on the manufacturer’s website—graphs and tables of measured values accessible to users via a web browser from virtually anywhere

Description

This inexpensive H531 level meter does not have data storage and therefore cannot function as a data logger. Measured values are displayed on a graphic display, which informs the operator of changes in the level over time; the display interval is adjustable from a few hours to several weeks.
To conserve battery power, the device’s display is turned off and turns on briefly only when one of the control buttons is pressed. The device also includes a binary output for controlling an external relay based on the set level limits. Parameterization is performed using the buttons and the display.
The level meter’s electronic circuitry allows for the connection of a standard level sensor with a 4–20 mA output in addition to the low-cost TSH27 sensor. This capability extends the level meter’s application to measurement ranges not covered by the TSH27 sensor.
Since the level meter is primarily battery-powered, it does not require an external power supply to operate. However, external power can be supplied to the device, which allows not only continuous measurement but also the backlit graphic display to remain on at all times.

Applications

  • Measuring water levels in wells, boreholes, retention basins, and rainwater and wastewater collection tanks
