PSH-30 – Float-Type Continuous Level Gauge

The PSH-30 measures the liquid level and the temperature of the level sensor, which may, with a certain delay, correspond to the temperature at the measurement point. Thanks to a modern measurement method, the level sensor achieves a resolution of 1 mm over a virtually unlimited measurement range. It allows for measuring level fluctuations over a range of up to 30 m. Only a single cable runs from the sensor, connecting it to the RS485 interface of the H3 unit or to the H1 Hydro Logger.

  • Measurement range 0...30 m, resolution 1 mm
  • Non-contact magnetic method for sensing pulley rotation
  • Mechanically robust design, stainless steel bearings, moisture-protected electronics
  • Galvanic isolation of the electronics from the measured medium contributes to high measurement reliability
  • Power supplied by the connected H3 recording unit or the H1 Hydro-Logger
  • Very low current consumption in standby mode (30 uA) while maintaining a high position sampling rate of 3 times per second
  • RS485 communication interface, standard FINET protocol
  • Display of the measured level on the connected unit’s screen
  • Setting of the measured level via the connected unit’s keypad

Description

The vertical movement of the float is transmitted via a stainless steel cable with a counterweight to rotate the level gauge pulley. This rotational movement is detected non-contact by a special magnetic sensor and further processed by a built-in microprocessor. This modern method has made it possible to achieve a sensor resolution of 1 mm with a virtually unlimited measuring range. The PSH-30 level gauge can measure level fluctuations over a range of up to 30 m.
The level gauge’s high operational reliability—even in the constantly damp environment of shafts and boreholes—was achieved by using a stainless-steel bearing for a secure and stable pulley mounting and by encapsulating the electronic circuits, including the magnetic sensor itself, in a water-resistant material. As a result, only a single cable extends from the level meter, connecting it to the RS485 interface of the H3, Q2, or H7 units, or to the H1 Hydro Logger.
The measured water level is transmitted via the FINET communication protocol to the connected data logger, where it is stored in the data memory at regular intervals and simultaneously displayed on the unit’s screen. The desired level is also set using the connected unit’s keypad during installation of the level sensor.
The level gauge also comes with a universal stainless steel bracket that allows for vertical adjustment of the pulley and features mounting holes for attachment to a workbench, wall, or tubular boom using clamps. A retaining bracket on the mount secures the cable with the float and counterweight.

Applications

  • Continuous monitoring of groundwater levels in wells
  • Measurement of water levels in reservoirs and water treatment plants
  • Redundancy for existing level measurements at locations requiring high reliability (limnigraphic water level stations)
  • A continuous float-type level sensor can serve as a primary or secondary sensor for measuring water levels in limnigraphic shafts, wells, boreholes, catch basins, and anywhere an H3 or Hydro Logger H1 unit is installed for data logging
