Both an open-collector pulse sensor (OPTO) and a sensor with a mechanical or semiconductor switching contact (REED) can be connected to the INPUT terminal. After adjusting jumper PR2—accessible after removing the upper cover of the device—sensors with current or voltage outputs can also be connected to the INPUT, and these sensors can be powered by the device.
The three pulse outputs, OUT-A, OUT-B, and OUT-C, can be used for process control (metering pumps) or data acquisition (data loggers, telemetry). To suppress ground loops and ensure reliable operation, the pulse outputs OUT-B and OUT-C are galvanically isolated from each other as well as from the power supply voltage of the splitter and the pulse output OUT-A. The OUT-A output is an open-collector output consisting of a switching transistor connected to the negative terminal of the supply voltage. The OUT-B and OUT-C outputs contain a non-polarized semiconductor switching element.
