Net radiometers

CNR4 – Net Radiometer

The CNR4 net radiometer is used to measure the radiation balance between incident and reflected short-wave radiation and long-wave infrared radiation. The instrument contains two pyranometers for measuring shortwave radiation and two pyrgeometers for measuring longwave radiation. The radiometer provides four separate outputs corresponding to the individual components of the radiation balance. This allows for the precise evaluation of the surface energy balance, albedo, or energy exchange processes between the surface and the atmosphere.

  • Four-component radiation balance measurement
  • Two pyranometers and two pyrgeometers in a single instrument
  • Separate outputs for individual radiation components
  • High accuracy and long-term stability
  • Rugged design for outdoor use
  • Option for a heated ventilation unit

Description

The radiometer is designed for long-term outdoor use in meteorological and environmental applications. The instrument’s design minimizes the effects of heating from direct sunlight and ensures stable measurements even during long-term operation.
The sensor can be installed on weather masts or special mounts. For demanding applications, the radiometer can be equipped with a heated ventilation unit that prevents dew or frost from forming on the optical components.

Applications

  • Meteorological measurements
  • Agro-meteorological stations
  • Environmental research
  • Surface energy balance measurements
  • Hydrological and climatological studies
