Net radiometers

NR LITE2 – Net Radiometer

The NR LITE2 is a net radiometer designed to measure net radiation—that is, the difference between incident and reflected shortwave and longwave radiation. This parameter is key to determining the energy available for evaporation, photosynthesis, and surface–atmosphere heat exchange, and is essential in meteorology, agrometeorology, hydrology, and heat balance studies.
The radiometer combines high sensitivity with a robust, weather-resistant design and is optimized for long-term outdoor measurements.

  • Net radiometer for measuring net surface radiation
  • Sensor based on the thermocouple principle
  • Low drift, stable output signal
  • Outdoor, weather-resistant design
  • Analog and digital outputs
  • Easy integration into systems and telemetry

Description

The Net radiometer NR LITE2 uses a thermocouple sensor with a special filtering system that allows for the simultaneous detection of both short-wave and long-wave radiation and the difference between them. The resulting signal corresponds to the net radiant energy flux from the measured surface.
The device is equipped with analog outputs (e.g., 0–1 V / 4–20 mA) and often includes digital communication capabilities for connection to telemetry networks and data loggers. The design operates reliably in outdoor environments and has low thermal dependence.

Applications

  • Meteorological radiation measurements
  • Surface energy balances
  • Hydrological and agrometeorological applications
  • Microclimate and heat flux research
  • Monitoring of temperature and radiation balances
