Monitoring, Regulation, and Control of Wastewater Treatment Plant Technology

The primary objective of treating various types of wastewater is to reduce the load of pollutants discharged into natural water bodies in accordance with applicable regulations. Another objective is to keep the costs associated with wastewater collection and treatment as low as possible, which is linked to ever-increasing requirements for monitoring and technology. That is why reliable FIEDLER AMS monitoring stations are used here, providing continuous, real-time data. Monitoring stations are an essential component of wastewater treatment—both for dynamic process control and for continuous monitoring of effluent.

How it works

How does it work?

Severe contamination is a problem in wastewater that can be caused by many different substances. Proper wastewater treatment requires responsible and effective monitoring, which allows you to analyze the current situation, manage processes, and make quick decisions.

FIEDLER AMS instruments are designed for continuous operation in the humid and corrosive environments of wastewater treatment plants and are equipped with the features necessary for automated wastewater treatment plant operations.

The units’ software includes modes and functions ranging from value-controlled limit switching on an assigned measurement channel to complex logical and timing functions.

The applications offered include:

  • control of dissolved oxygen in aeration tanks,
  • automatic control of blowers (including a fail-safe function in case of failure),
  • control of pumping stations in collection tanks,
  • monitoring of the chemical properties of liquids (ammonia, nitrate, pH, etc.), and more.
  • FIEDLER AMS provides various solution options tailored to customer needs and requirements. For models equipped with a calibration unit, regular sensor calibrations can be performed. Variants without a calibration unit are suitable for field installations involving measurements in open watercourses, ponds, and reservoirs, where a calibration unit would only increase the purchase price of the measurement system.

The system can be expanded to include data analysis and visualization in the responsive CloudFM web application, remote parameterization via the MOST program, and remote monitoring using CloudFM SCADA screens.

Software

Data Visualization in the CloudFM App

The application is connected to devices that collect data from the entire wastewater treatment plant system; this data is then uploaded to a server and archived in a database that users can access via a web browser. The application processes every measured parameter, which it then converts into statistics; as a user, you can view this data in a visually appealing format through maps, graphs, and tables, and you can customize the entire interface to suit your exact needs — including graphical customization, changes to operating parameters, or the creation of forms, and more.

The application features an alert system that notifies you if any threshold values are exceeded or in the event of an emergency. CloudFM also supports exports to several data formats and can be expanded to include a SCADA control system in the form of process screens. All of this operates in an easy-to-use and intuitive environment that you can manage from a computer, smartphone, or tablet.
